As an author, using social media to market your book can be daunting. Especially if you lack experience. You end up spending all of your allotted marketing time on research. This post explains social media for authors.

There is the option between organic and paid social media. Because of the algorithms social media platforms have put in place, such as Facebook and Twitter, it has become more difficult to achieve anything organically. It usually takes a lot of time and knowledge that could otherwise be spent focused on your business or writing.

Paid can be just as difficult if you don’t target the audiences correctly or put the right money down for a bid. Plus, you’re spending money while you’re figuring this all out which can definitely put a damper on things.

There are plenty of social media platforms out there currently. However, updating too many accounts leads to lost potential. The authors’ attentions become spread too thin. Typically, it is suggested to pick one of social media platforms to focus on. Authors still use the other social media platforms but don’t plan on putting all of your focus on more than one account.
