How Publishers Can Build on Self-Publishing’s Victories

With all the technological advancements pushing us forward as a society, unsurprisingly there have been numerous efforts to innovate in the publishing industry as well. The landscape has been undoubtedly changed by eBooks and eReaders and the different reading experience they offer. But is the reading experience something that needs to be changed?

Well, yes and no. Some people prefer the simple process of cracking open a book and concentrating on its words. Some people prefer having books more easily accessible and available from everywhere. The ability to read from anywhere is so much easier when you don’t have to lug around a heavy book or books.

There are downsides as opposed to traditional reading. But these innovations do make the reading process much easier for many people, so shouldn’t we be supportive of them?
