Elevating Your Origins to Love

by Susan Drury

Summary:

It's a tricky business, being human. In this book, the author shares her own very personal stories – starting from conception itself – and offers us multiple ways to reframe our own journeys from a deeply loving perspective. Understanding our physiological hardwiring, exploring the development of our personal software and uncovering the great transformational potentials embedded within us is the journey we go on together. Holding us gently, but with a fearless compassion, she offers us a variety of awareness-enhancing exercises and possibilities to heal beyond time and space – all in service of making right those early wrongs both personally and for the collective.

The Author:

Susan Drury has spent the past thirty years discovering what it means to consciously accept that nothing ever truly goes wrong; we just haven't yet walked through the transformational doorway being offered to us. With a wide spectrum of professional training and experience in cranial sacral therapy, shamanic healing, homeopathic practice and the Present Child Method, supported by a deep meditation practice and study of the Tao te Ching, Susan serves as a transformational teacher, healer, and writer. She lives in Vancouver, BC with her husband of thirty-five years, close to her three grown daughters and two grandchildren.

Elevating Your Origins to Love by Susan Drury, is put in the self-help category. It was a book for which I had been looking for a long time. By studying Eastern mysticism, I learned that there are two wings for flying. One is love and the other is meditation. I couldn’t communicate with meditation though. Although comprehension of meditation was always difficult for me, this book simply teaches meditation. It is so difficult to write about a book that teaches the power of silence. This book is more for understanding than reading. Our brain emits beta waves in our daily lives. If you want to change your life, you have to change your brain waves. According to the book's content, meditation changes the brain waves from beta to alpha. By reading this book we learn how to confront our pain and sufferings and accept them. So, this acceptance will cure our pains. This book is lovely. I recommend it to everyone because I believe meditation can bring us to our essence and, as Susan says, we come from love and return to love. Everything in between is just a temporary illusion.

Of all the hundreds of self-development books I’ve read, there are only a handful that have moved me in the way Masha’s words do.

I couldn't buy just one copy of Elevating Your Origins to Love by Susan Drury. I have so many family members and friends who would love these gently provocative chapters, healing meditations, and the tender invitations to love fully. The author becomes a guide on one's journey, and a dear companion as she shares milestones from her own journey. A book to be read straight through then practiced, savored, and shared.

When we're caught up in the chaos of day-to-day life, it's easy to feel like our dreams, our personal values, our talents, and even our personality traits don't matter all that much. However, being conscious of these traits can provide us with a wealth of information regarding our internal self. Managing one's day-to-day responsibilities is certainly a priority. But living a life that is nothing more than a series of going through the same motions day in and day out doesn't typically result in a lot of enjoyment. If you've reached a point in your life where you're questioning what it's all about or feeling burdened down by past traumatic experiences, engaging in some self-discovery can help you get to know yourself a little bit better. Examining one's life, determining what aspects of it are lacking, and working to fill those voids are the steps involved in the process of self-discovery, which, despite its lofty and daunting reputation, is really quite simple. Elevating Your Origins to Love by Susan Drury is a ‘guided journey of transformation, healing, and power’ that may have the potential to make a significant influence on your thoughts and life.
